I will be cycling in the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure fund-raising event, 32 mile ride.
I'm riding this year for the first time, and I need all the support I can get. I decided to ride in the Tour de Cure because of how quickly diabetes has affected my life. Just a few short years ago, my father was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. He's still healthy and going strong, but it seemed like his diagnosis began a cascade. Not long after, my Aunt was also diagnosed, and only last year my Mother-in-law as well. This year, a key member of my team at work was hospitalized and diagnosed with type 2 diabetes during a particularly stressful time.
It has become painfully obvious to me how serious and widespread a problem this disease can be. It has also come crashing home just how "at-risk" I am. I want to do everything in my power to push towards a cure, and by supporting this ride, you can assist with that.
