10 Mile "Celebrity" Led Ride

Ride Leaders:

We are honored to have 4 motivational, local celebrities lead our rides.

John Anderson, of Team Type 2, has been an avid cyclist for the past 10 years.  After being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 1989, John was in denial of the potentially devastating consequences of diabetes until he collapsed in 2002.  He has been cycling to manage the disease ever since.  John recently biked 3021 miles in Race Across America to provide hope and inspiration to individuals across the country who are affect by diabetes, with proper care and control anything can be accomplished.

Kory Lichtensteiger, Washington Redskin offensive guard, will be riding in support of his brother who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.

Stacey Capers, from season 6 of The Biggest Loser, has lost over 94 lbs since being at her heaviest weight of 250 lbs.  She now serves as a Wellness Ambassador for the American Diabetes Association and motivates others to take action to improve their health.  Stacey has completed 2 half marathons, over 10 triathlons including a Half Ironman and looks forward to completing 50 miles at this year’s National Capital Tour de Cure.

Wounded Warrior Solider Rider, The Wounded Warrior Project, honors and empowers this generation of our country's brave military service members who were wounded in combat. Soldier Ride is a series of cycling events held across the country. Service members are provided with customized riding equipment based on their particular needs. For many of the warriors, cycling is their first physical activity as they adapt and get back to their new normal.
