Don’t Just Sit There!

ADA_GetFitDontSit_FacebookCoverImage_noProfilePic2.jpgWhen you think about it, a lot of our daily activities involve sitting—whether it’s watching TV, enjoying sports, browsing the internet or even working. All this sitting can add up, and it’s just not good for you.

However you decide to spend your time, you should make a habit of getting up every 90 minutes. In fact, research shows that changing our sedentary habits is one of the most effective ways of preventing type 2 diabetes.

Today, May 6, marks the American Diabetes Association’s inaugural National “Get Fit Don’t Sit” Day. We want to get you up and moving, whether you’re stuck at your desk or waiting for that document at the printer. It’s easier than you think!

  1. Ditch the elevator and take the stairs.

  2. Walk to someone’s desk if you need something, instead of calling or emailing.

  3. Stand up and spend a minute stretching between tasks.

And we’re not just here to tell you, but also to show you how! Check out our blog for more information about this fun occasion and how you and your company can get moving today.
