Hi Friend,,

When you register for the American Diabetes Association's National Capital Area Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes, you are agreeing to support amazing programs right here in the DC metro area.  Last year alone, the American Diabetes Association reached over 296,000 people in the region with information about eating healthy, the importance of exercise, and diabetes education.  This was accomplished by working with and training volunteers to be American Diabetes Association Volunteer Ambassadors in their own communities.

As part of Project POWER, we worked with over forty churches from the DC area to increase awareness in their congregations and make healthy living one of the principles of the church.  Our year round Por Tu Familia education programs focusing on the region's Hispanic populations were able to reach more people than ever before. In Northern Virginia, we worked with the Lions Club to set up diabetes screenings and educational sessions in at risk and underserved communities. Over the coming year, we hope to expand our reach and work towards putting a Stop to Diabetes.

Thank you for your previous support!  We hope you will join us again this year at the National Harbor on Saturday October 19th for the National Capital Area Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes.  Register today to reaffirm your support for these amazing programs and the impact they are having right here in our area.
