Advocacy:
American Diabetes Month®

az1.jpg

November is American Diabetes Month®. This year’s theme for American Diabetes Month was “Eat Well, America!sm” As the American Diabetes Association® celebrates its 75th anniversary, we wanted to share a timeless message—that eating well is one of life’s greatest pleasures, and enjoying delicious, healthy food helps with diabetes management. This November, the Association showed our nation how easy and joyful healthy eating is. Locally, your ADA staff prepared easy recipes and shared them on social media. What was your favorite dish?

Arizona and New Mexico cities joined the Association by proclaiming November American Diabetes Month. A total of 34 cities, including the Arizona Office of Governor Doug Ducey, encouraged residents to participate in American Diabetes Month activities, bringing awareness to diabetes. Mayor Gail Barney of  the Town of Queen Creek shared a statement to residents in the following press release. Additionally, diabetes advocates attended City Council meetings to accept proclamations and share their story to Stop Diabetes.
