Staying Focused in the Final Month

You deserve to have a rewarding fundraising experience. We want your fundraising efforts to have an impact on your mission to Stop Diabetes®. The next 37 days are crucial in reaching your ultimate fundraising and cycling potential. Working hard now will set you up to coast across the finish line come June 11th. We've compiled some tips and resources to make May (National Bike Month) a success for all those affected by diabetes.

Fundraising Tips - Remember to share your story. Why do you ride? Connect your potential donors to our cause. With nearly 1 in 10 people affected by this disease your donors are bound to have a personal connection. The facts are on your side so be sure to include them in your personal, email, and social media asks. Additional tip: Many companies have a Matching Gift program. Be sure to include a request that your donors verify with their HR Department their company's matching gift policies. It is an easy way to double every contribution.

Reaching the Next Milestone - From a 'Hang the Banner' badge to being designated a Champion to Stop Diabetes® Tour de Cure is designed to reward every milestone you reach. Setting short-term goals will help you reach your ultimate fundraising goal. You'll also earn more exclusive recognition gifts along the way. Do you know what the next milestone is? You may be closer than you think.

Spreading the Word - As the event day draws near we want to keep getting the word out. Biking is fun, but biking together is even more exciting. Be sure to refer all your friends to Tour de Cure and let everyone know you are riding to Stop Diabetes®. This is a great way to get support both in fundraising and on the day of the event.

Recruiting - Contact Theresa Callahan to request recruiting materials. Find Northeast Ohio Tour de Cure rack cards in bike shops throughout the area.

Now See What Your Hard Work Will Earn You

We are putting together an exciting combination of entertainment, food, and family activities to celebrate your hard work and accomplishments after crossing the finish line. Check out some of the festivity highlights and exclusive recognition take aways:

Entertainment - Local talent will be taking the stage to get you jamming out after taking the ride of your life! Notable acts include Brian Lisik, Vernon Jones, and Daddy Long Legs Homegrown Revival.

Children's Activities - We want to see the whole family out to cheer on our riders and enjoy a day of fun stopping diabetes. As our riders cycle along Lake Erie children will have an afternoon complete with a balloon artist, face painter, and much more. This year our friends at the Ohio Shakespeare Festival will be sharing in the merriment with song, dance, and revelry. The troupe is debuting an all new Robin Hood family musical this summer at Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens. Find them in the Children's Activities Zone to take the oath of Robin Hood's Merry Men and join Ohio Shakespeare Festival company members as they demonstrate how staying physically active can be fun.

Recognition - Come June 11th you'll have trained, fundraised, and made a significant impact in the fight to Stop Diabetes®. We want you to ride away knowing how much we appreciate your commitment. Following the event be sure to visit the Tour de Cure's Recognition site to see what gifts you've unlocked with your fundraising. From Tour de Cure gear to electronics there are many ways to reward your hard work. Browse the Recognition site now to motivate your fundraising.

Celebrate For Whom You Ride

Diabetes takes a toll on every person it touches. Whether you live with it yourself, have a child thriving with type 1, or a parent with type 2, we all ride for some one close to us living with the diabetes. Honor their daily struggle by qualifying for a 'Why I Ride' sign to be displayed along your designated route. These honorary signs commemorate our personal connections to diabetes and can also be a great way to pay tribute to the memory of a loved one who lived with the disease.

To qualify, riders must reach the $500 fundraising level or self-donate $110. Our Tour de Cure staff will be contacting those that have already qualified for a 'Why I Ride' sign.

1 of every 11 people lives with diabetes. If it is not you it is some one you love. Remember why for whom you ride as you pedal past a sign honoring their daily heroism.

Champions

We are happy to recognize our current Champions to Stop Diabetes®! Be sure to show your appreciation for their commitment to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all those living with diabetes.
