We are excited to announce the ADA Mental Health Provider Referral Directory, which is offered to those licensed mental health providers who meet the following criteria:
- Currently licensed as a mental health provider
- Professional member of the ADA (Associate, Professional 1, Professional 2)
- Demonstrated competence treating the mental health needs of people with diabetes by:
The benefits include a national directory that providers, clinics, and patients will be able to search and find a provider close to them and hopefully a pipeline of better reach to people with diabetes in need. For clinicians that are not working in diabetes, we are offering the American Diabetes Association-American Psychological Association (ADA-APA) Mental Health Provider Diabetes Education Program!
As most of you know from your work, education for mental health providers regarding diabetes and related mental health issues (both type 1 and type 2) is a gap in our healthcare system. To increase capacity of mental health providers knowledgeable in diabetes, we are excited to announce that the first two in-person trainings will be held as a pre-conference workshop to SciSessions at the ADA June 8, 2017 (ADA-APA continuing education program) and again at the American Psychological Association in Washington, D.C. August 6, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. It will be a 7 hour CE workshop, that once completed, will enable providers to sign up for a 5 hour CE online training, and then they will be eligible to be listed in the new ADA Mental Health Provider Directory.
