Peter rides with "no limits"

I'm committed to completing the Tour de Cure again this year and I hope to inspire others to do the same.

My name is Peter Hoogenboom, and I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 14. For the past 31 years, I have used exercise as a powerful tool against the complications of diabetes. Active in a number of sports in high school and college, I rediscovered my childhood love of bicycles in my early-20's and I've enjoyed the health benefits and the camaraderie of the sport ever since.

During my 21 years of bicycling, I have completed a number of self-supported tours in the United States and participated in local bicycling tours and races. I'm particularly proud of having participated in the challenging, one-day, 203-mile LOTOJA Classic race ten times, including fifth, sixth, and seventh place finishes in my age group.

Last year, my No Limits Cycling Club participated in the Tour de Cure in Brigham City, Utah and raised $3,550. I'm committed to completing the Tour de Cure as a way to share my success in avoiding the complications of diabetes and hopefully inspiring others to do the same. I feel that sharing my experiences in bicycling and dealing with diabetes can help promote active, healthy lifestyles for all people with diabetes.

I have been a supporting member of the American Diabetes Association for 25 years.
