I ride for my wife

She doesn't have diabetes, but I do and my diabetes takes a toll on her. I ride to hopefully end her daily burden.

I have had diabetes for twenty years. For the three years I have been married (and the years we dated before that) my wife Emily has helped me bear the daily burden of the disease. Without her I would not be able to maintain the control of my diabetes that I have. I ride for her, that one day her life can be free of the daily demands upon a spouse of someone with diabetes. I ride for myself, that perhaps the next twenty years won't have to be so hard. I ride for my young friend Lauren who is just beginning the long journey that is life with diabetes. I ride so that maybe soon others won't have to.
