I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 9. For years I took 3 shots a day, watched what I ate, etc. That was 23 years ago. Today, I am an insulin pump user with a lot more freedom than I once had.
Being on an insulin pump is expensive with or without insurance. But wouldn't it be great if there was a cure and we didn't have to worry about the expense anymore?

Being diabetic is a way of life for me. I got it at such a young age that I can't remember NOT being a diabetic. But wouldn't it be terrific if we didn't have to worry about such a drastic disease taking hold of our loved ones' lives in the future?

This is why I walk. Without events like this...no one would have the money to look for that cure.
