My ride....  My ride.... I ride because I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1989. I ride beause I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in December 1989. Since then I have met many other diabetics and started riding to help find a cure in 1991 on the Tour de Cure. Since then I have only missed one year, 1995, the last year of the ride along I-205. I have ridden every year of Summit to Surf, so this is year number 10 for me! So far I have no complications from diabetes, due to being shown how to use the exchange system, having the use of glucose meters and going on the pump in 1994. Without the ADA and research that they fund, I am sure that life would be much harder as a diabetic. These are the reasons I ride. |
