Community Walk to Stop Diabetes is a new initiative of the American Diabetes Association's movement to Stop Diabetes. These local grass roots walk events are organized by local Volunteer Walk Coordinators in towns and cities across the country.

Gene Teat Memorial Walk Gene Teat was only 24 years old when he passed away in 2006 from diabetic ketoacidosis. After his death, his friends and family joined together and formed the "Gene Team" and has been raising money for the American Diabetes Association ever since, raising over $60,000. This year, the "Gene Team" is hard at work again with their Community Walk on May 11th.
