Formed in 1931, the Father's Day Council identifies and honors fathers who have demonstrated the ability to balance their personal lives with their professional careers, to serve as role models for their children, and to help make a positive difference in their communities.

Since 1999, the Father's Day Council has partnered with the American Diabetes Association to host the Father of the Year Awards dinner. Together, more than $10 million has been raised to benefit the research, education and advocacy efforts of the American Diabetes Association.
