My brother and I wanted to start this fund because we know through second-hand experience what life is like dealing with Diabetes. We wanted to raise the funds so that future generations will not have to deal with the hardships our father so strongly handled.

As a member of the community, Fred Olague worked hard to share his knowledge of sports and life. Throughout his life he struggled with diabetes, but he never allowed that to slow him down; often working full-time, coaching basketball part-time, and volunteering for the Bakersfield Condors at night. Fred was a good husband to his wife and a loving father to his children. His family could think of nothing more special than to take up the battle against diabetes.
