THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE 2009 STEP OUT: WALK TO FIGHT DIABETES A FANTASTIC DAY
You braved wind, sleet and rain and managed to raise a phenomenal $217,000 to fight diabetes!
Click here for Photos of the Day
We thought you'd like to know how the ADA invests your hard raised dollar:
More than .75 cents of every dollar raised supports the mission of the American Diabetes Association, to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. Since its inception, the Association has invested more than $450 million in research projects and, each year, conducts professional education activities that reach more than 25,000 health professionals. The Association is also the largest provider of Diabetes Camps as well as weekend retreats and one-day events that benefit more than 10,000 children of all ages every year. We cannot fund these efforts and many more without your support!
Listed below are a few more examples of what the money you raised can help purchase or fund.
- $2.75 Pays to send a diabetes information kit to a newly diagnosed individual.
- $11.25 Covers one hour of an advocate’s visit to Washington, D.C.
- $25 Pays for materials necessary for a health fair.
- $26 Provides diabetes risk tests for 1000 individuals.
- $37 Pays for educational materials for a newly-diagnosed child and their family.
- $50 Pays for one hour of diabetes research.
- $100 Pays for a child to go to camp for one day.
Don't forget! Pockets is still fundraising on behalf of the ADA:
To continue their support of the American Diabetes Association, Pockets will donate 20% of your online orders (pick up or delivery) to the ADA through the end of November. Click on the Pockets logo to continue raising much needed funds for the ADA.
