Our Step Out Walks foster tradition and hope to all who attend. Step Out is a time to come together and celebrate our Red Striders (participants who are living with type 1 or type 2 diabetes).
Walkers are invited to participate in one of two events, which include a 1 or 3.2 mile walk either within the famous Lincoln Park neighborhood, just steps away from the Lincoln Park Zoo or amongst the charming neighborhoods of Lincolnshire and Didier Farms.
At Didier Farms in Lincolnshire, participants will experience a fall festival at the farm, and will get to enjoy kids carnival rides, petting zoo, and a pumpkin patch. At Diversey Harbor in Chicago, participants will experience a walk along the harbor’s serene lagoon, and there will be onsite entertainment for all ages! All routes are well supported and designed to provide a safe and enjoyable walk featuring a rest stop, food, music, drinks and volunteers to cheer walkers along the way. To find out more about the walk, please visit our FAQ's page.
Registration for the walk is free, however, participants are encouraged to fundraise to support the American Diabetes Association's mission: to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. All walkers will receive access to a personal fundraising webpage, email center, mobile app and more! Walkers who reach $150 raised (and above) will qualify for these great recognition items!
