New Date & Location
April 8, 2018 at Williams Park, St. Petersburg
The NEW date & location will bring added excitement, as the Step Out Walk will be taking place alongside the American Diabetes Association's annual cycling event, the Tour de Cure! We are so excited to host both cyclists and walkers on April 8, 2018 at Williams Park, St. Petersburg. We hope you will join us in April to celebrate our resilient community and move our vital mission forward.
It Starts With You!
When you register for the Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes you become a part of the American Diabetes Association’s team. Joining you will be thousands of participants from around the country who come together and directly impact the lives of people facing the daily challenges of diabetes and their loved ones.
Your Impact is Widespread When you Register:
- You’re raising awareness in your community about diabetes
- You’re supporting life-saving research
- You’re helping people who are discriminated against because they have diabetes.
Fundraising is easy with your personal fundraising center. You will have your own fundraising page, email center, mobile app and more. The Association staff is there to help you every step of the way.
The Step Out Walk Event Day is Special!
Participating in the Step Out Walk is an experience you will never forget. You will be joining your community members along the beautiful route who share your passion to fight diabetes. You will be helping people right in your community who live with this disease every day.
Your Step Out Day experience includes:
- Starting line ceremonies with inspiring speakers
- Well marked NEW 1 Mile & 5K walk route
- Fully stocked rest stops
- Refreshments and post event celebrations
For the months of November and December, we are very excited to extend our In Training Shirts to walkers! For complete details and how you can qualify, click here.
As we will be hosting both the Tour and Walk on the same day, we welcome any riders to register through the 2018 Tour de Cure Southwest Florida page. It's going to be a day filled with excitement!
In addition, the Morning Mile is another way the ADA is working with partners in the community to get kids moving and focusing on building healthy habits at an early age. The Morning Mile provides students an opportunity to walk/run in the morning before they start their day at school. We look forward to hosting many Morning Mile families at the Step Out walk! More information about the Morning Mile and local effots, can be found here.
