DIABETES CAMP MAKES A DIFFERENCE. WE CAN TOO.
So many lives are touched by diabetes. Chances are your life is too. You can help make a difference in those lives. Join us or donate - either way, you can change lives.
Every June, The American Diabetes Association enjoys holding Camp Freedom, sponsored by Novo Nordisk, for 175+ kids living with type 1 diabetes. Campers and counselors-in-training, aged 7-17 stay at Camp Kweebec located in Schwenksville, PA, where they enjoy diabetes-related education in addition to regular camp activities throughout the week. Camp Freedom activities are combined with diabetes mentoring, much of which comes from the 40 counselors at camp. It emphasizes the importance of self-reliance and encourages children that they are not alone in the day-to-day challenges of living with diabetes.
The Association seeks to provide a safe, enjoyable and rewarding experience for campers. A full complement of medical and healthcare professionals, counselors and ADA staff are on the premises for the entire week of camp working to provide an affordable and enjoyable camping experience for children with type 1 diabetes and their families, present a safe and healthy environment away from home for children with diabetes, and enable children with diabetes and their family to meet other children and counselors with diabetes.
We're committed to walk and raise money in this inspirational event not because 29 million people in the United States have diabetes, but because we are a group of campers and counselors who want to make a difference for those affected with diabetes.
If diabetes touches your life, then you belong with us. When we bring together dedicated team members and kind donors, the power we have as a group far outweighs what any of us could do alone.
BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP! To help support our efforts, please click to donate or join our Camp team.
We are forever grateful for your support. Together we can Stop Diabetes!
