Hi eveyone! Thank you so much for paricipating in this event and this page.
My experience with Lions Camp Merrick staff and campers led me to the ADA. Some of my closet friends struggle with Type 1 diabetes everyday. The psychosocial and physical consequences of this desease impact every aspect of soemone's life. I've seen my friends endure the hardships that this disease manifests firsthand. While their struggle is exetremely difficult, they are some of the most fortunate members of the diabetic community.
Diabetes, or rather the drug companies who sell the insulin and diabeetic supplies, often sentance economically disadvantaged diabetics to death. Insulin has tripled in cost over the last decade, with minor changes to its formula or effectiveness.
The ADA is at the forefront of lobbying for affordable insulin and we are so proud to see the HUGE step that Colorado just took to become the first state to limit diabetic co-pays at $100 per month.
Our society has effectively developed the stop gap cure to a disease and people are still dying from it because underegulated drug companies are pursuing record profits.
90 cents of every dollar you donate goes back to our three primary misisons.
1 Lobbying for affordable insulin, diabetic supplies, and legisltaion to protect diabetics from discrimination.
2 Provide funding for a cure for type 1 and 2 diabetes.
3 Provide immediate support for those struggling to manage their diabetes through resources and information.
Thank you for your support!
