So many lives are touched by diabetes and my dad is one of them. Today, 29 million Americans are living with the diabetes and this is why I am running a half marathon in October to help raise funds to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes.
My dad has lived with diabetes for over 60 years. He was recently taken into emergency surgery on Sunday, May 13th, Mother's Day and was given only a 40% chance of making it through the surgery. Needless to say-he made it and we are so thankful.
I have watched him go in and out of the hospital and rehabilitation facilities for 7 weeks. He has basically had to learn to walk again. Neuropathy has attacked so many parts of his body because of his diabetes.
I am training to run a half marathon in honor of my dad.
- 1 in 11 Americans is living with diabetes
- 1 in 4 adults who has it doesn't know it.
- 1 in 3 adults is at risk of developing it
In the next 24 hours, 4,660 new cases of diabetes will be diagnosed. That's more than 3 friends, neighbors, co-workers or family members diagnosed with diabetes every minute of every day.
Each dollar I raised will be used to support the American Diabetes Association's mission to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. I invite you to join me. Please support my efforts, make an impact, and to shape the future of diabetes, and click on the Donate button.
Thank you for making a generous contribution to this cause that is so important to me! Please keep my parents in your prayers.
