Friends and Family
I am going on a solo bike adventure in June. I will ride my bike from Central Michigan to Northern Vermont - approxiimately 825 miles in approximately 12 days. I am hoping to raise $1,500+ for the American Diabetes Association.
I am in my 34th year of having Type 1 Diabetes. My 34th year would not have come if it were not for the support and help of friends and family as well as new technologies for managing diabetes. My life was saved a handful of times by quick acting, thoughtful friends during life threatening incidents my first years with this disease. It was an enormous struggle for me to learn how to manage day to day.
Today approxiamately 1.5 million children and adults have Type I Diabetes. I am committed to contribute to research and education so today's and the future's Type I children with diabetes can cope and thrive in their lives.
I am a teacher and have a number of students with Type 1 diabetes, reminding me of my own struggles and the help I received and depended on to learn, survive, and move forward. Like other chronic illnesses coping with diabetes requires perseverence, education, and constant awareness to get safely through each day. Diabetes does not have to inhibit lone from living an active and happy life.
Each dollar I raise will be used to support the American Diabetes Association's mission to prevent and cure diabetes and to educate and improve the lives people affected by diabetes. I invite you to join me. Please support my efforts, make an impact, and to shape the future of diabetes, and click on the Donate button.
Thank you for what you have already selflessly given me and making a generous contribution to this cause that is important to me!
