Most of you reading this will know that Diabetes is an important cause for me, professionally and personally. It has taken the lives of people I cared about, and for many years I've devoted myself to working to stop it, in part by putting my butt on a bike saddle and pushing myself on our annual Sacramento Diabetes ride. This year will be tougher, for many reasons. The ADA nationally was forced to cut back staff and support for a number of smaller local offices and events, including ours. Sacramento's Tour de Cure was going to be cancelled - but the group of very dedicated volunteers I've worked with for years wasn't willling to give up on all the work we had done, so we decided to put this ride on ourselves. It may be lucky that we didn't know going in how hard it would be to reserve our venue, get insurance, rent porta potties, line up food (and coffee! I think we still need coffee), and do the thousand other little things that we used to count on a staff person to do. Somehow, almost miraculously we seem to be pulling it off, but it isn't over - it won't really work - unless we can get your support. I've set my own goal - riding 100K - and my fundraising goal very high, because I hope I can count on that support. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated, and very meaningful to me and 29 million others. The ride is coming up very soon - on Saturday May 20th, so please, if you can support me, do it today. Thanks.

In the next 24 hours, 4,660 new cases of diabetes will be diagnosed. That's more than 3 friends, neighbors, co-workers or family members diagnosed with diabetes every minute of every day.
Each dollar I raised will be used to support the American Diabetes Association's mission to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. I invite you to join me. Please support my efforts, make an impact, and to shape the future of diabetes, and click on the Donate button.
Thank you for making a generous contribution to this cause that is so important to me!
