Support Me in Tour de Cure!

I am participating in the American Diabetes Association's 2012 Tour de Cure. I am asking you to join me in the effort to Stop Diabetes by making a contribution to support my ride.

I ride in memory of my grandmother, "Abuelita Rosa," who lived with diabetes.  As a child, my brother and I stayed with my grandmother for the summer, and I remember visiting her when she had dialysis treatment. Back then, Abuelita Rosa let all of us grandchildren enjoy long days of exercise outside including riding our bicycle for many miles.  My aunts and uncles also have diabetes and they are happy to support me on my efforts to raise funds for a cure.

I also ride for my friend Aridam Basu, who was diagnosed with diabetes in his 30's.  We have been friends since we worked together many years ago, and I hear how his life changed when he was diagnosed and started treating his diabetes.  He is an advocate of screening and healthy living.

I hope to promote better healthy living through my cycling and promote the fight against diabetes by the American Diabetes Association.  I share any new information I learn about fighting diabetes with my friends and colleagues.

The dollars we raise for the American Diabetes Association fund research, provide services, and give voice to those denied their rights because of diabetes. I believe in the work they do, and I invite you to join me in this effort. More than 25 million Americans live with diabetes, and your support can and will make a difference in their lives.
