Welcome to Darby's Tour de Cure Webpage!!!
|
Every year since I was seven years old (2006), I have participated in the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure. Alongside my friends and family, I have ridden my bike for 31 miles on Massachusetts' North Shore. This cause is very important to me because my nana (my dad's mom) died from type 1 diabetes when I was only one year old. My younger sister never even got to meet her. I also want to make life better for people I know today that are living with diabetes. On May 19, 2013, I will be riding for a cure. This year is going to be the best one yet! Three years ago, I had a big accident during the ride. Two years ago, one of my friends did too. Today, we are both doing great! For 2013, the goal is to be accident-free. I think we can do it. With enough support, we will easily be able to make it. Last year, I raised over $2600 for the American Diabetes Association, and my team, Darby's Determined Diabetes Donors, raised over $10,000! Thanks to the wonderful support of all of you, we made a difference in the lives of many diabetics. Please support me this year. Every donation, big or small, is helpful. Even spare change can add up! So please, if you are able to this year, make a donation to this cause that is very important to me. Everyone has a connection to diabetes; I bet you know someone who is affected by this disease. Also, if you feel like you would like to support this cause even more, consider riding with us on Sunday, May 19th. There are 15, 31, 62, and 100 mile routes. The ride is beautiful, and it starts in Topsfield, Massachusetts. |
