Please support me in my 8th Tour de Cure! I am working on the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure fund-raising event again. Please support me with a donation by selecting the "Click Here to Sponsor Me" link. This year, I'm helping with Volunteers Sub-Committee. Each year, I continue to learn more about the effects this disease has on the lives of so many people. I am more determined than ever to do whatever I can to find a cure for this disease and advance the mission of the ADA. I really appreciate anything that you can do to support us. Your Help Will Make a Difference! I hope to raise money - lots of money! - that will go toward finding a cure for this disease that affects SO MANY - too many - of the people that I know and love. This year, I'm associated with TWO teams! John, Thomas and I are on a team called Andrew's Army. Andrew's Army is named after our friends' Deb & Eric's son - a 16-year-old boy who was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when he was 5 years old. And, this year, I'm thrilled that my workmates at Drummond Woodsum have a growing team. Last year, the DWeaM Team rode with 4 riders. This year, we're hoping to double - or triple! - that number and are seeking new riders. Although not on their "official" team roster, I'm there with them in spirit and behind the scenes. So, while we started doing this ride for this young man who copes with this disease every day, we know that whatever we do as part of these teams and this ride will affect the lives of many. So, we ride (and work on the committee) for our friend Andrew and for his parents; we ride for Shawn - another friend and son of our friends, Jeff and Janet. And, we ride for my Dad, my grandmother, my cousin, my friends at work, and everyone else that lives with this disease. |
