Dear Friends and Family, Please Support the Tour de Cure! Hi, my name is Ana Lipp, and I am the captain of "Ana's Bananas." One of the reasons I like being a part of the Tour De Cure is that it is a way to celebrate the strength of family and friends and how we can all make a big difference. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was four. I am now 11 years old, and I have already seen a difference in how people can live better with diabetes because of the money that is raised to help research and new technology. In the past seven years, I have had four different insulin pumps, and each one is more advanced and easier to use. My grandfather Don Acker also had type 1 diabetes and I ride to honor him, too. I have already started training for next year's ride in June 2013, I will be riding in the 25K! Something I really like is that anyone in the Tour de Cure who has diabetes gets a "Red Rider" jersey to wear. While I am riding in the Tour, anytime I pass a crowd of people when they see my Red Rider jersey they wave and cheer for me, and it is really motivating. I am very lucky to have so many great family members and friends. My sister Jane rides with me, and so does my best friend Erica. I have a great team. Help Make a Difference in the fight against diabetes! Please support me with a donation by selecting the "Sponsor Me" button. Our efforts will help set the pace in advancements made in helping people like me to live a healthy life with diabetes. I do lots of fun things throughout the year to help raise funds. My sister, my friend Erica and I host lemonade stands throughout the summer, and this winter we are going to have a hot chocolate stand. The money I raise will be used in the effort to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. |
