Support Me in Tour de Cure!

My story and reason for involvement in the Northshore TdC is really pretty straightforward.

Quite simply, I love to ride and I thought this was a great cause and an opportunity to turn my admittedly selfish interest in cycling into doing something good for others.  I learned about the ride and got involved via encouragement from Terry Cowman, the northshore cycling community "Chairman of the Board".  Terry's infectious enthusiasm for everything cycling and his strong endorsement for the TdC and its organizer, Karen Bagley, was all it took for me to sign up and join the cause.

While I don't personally suffer from Diabetes, I know several people that do which makes the ride all that more meaningful to me.  When I solicit donations and receive back personal notes that thank me for taking this on as their loved ones have suffered greatly as a result of diabetes it transforms the ride from just another personal workout to something really special.

Having done the Grand Fondo ride last year, I have found it to be everything its been advertised to be and more.  The route is well marked and challenging, there plenty of well spaced rest and supply stops, and it is incredibly rewarding to participate in an event amongst hundreds of others, many who aren't as fortunate as me and ride despite having diabetes.  In addition, the hundreds of volunteers who help make this event happen are so encouraging and supportive that it is one of the most memorable rides I do all year.

Thank you for your support, Peter
