Welcome to My Tour de Cure Web Page!
|
I am riding in honor of my late step-father, Jeff Holmes. Throughout my childhood, I can remember Jeff living with Juvenile Diabetes. He would have to give himself several insulin injections per day, but managed to keep it under control. After battling the disease for many years, Jeff lost the battle with Diabetes and died at just 44 years old. When I was younger, I always thought that 44 was much older. Well, this past summer, I turned 40 and understood that Jeff was taken way too young. The American Diabetes Foundation and its partners have made tremendous progress in treating this disease, but the ultimate goal is to find a cure. I am riding for those battling and those who, like my step-father, Jeff, fought so hard, and were taken too soon. Please join me on my journey, not just the Tour De Cure, but on the journey to find a cure for diabetes. Chances are, you also know someone who has been affected by diabetes and you already know how important it is to stop this disease. By making a donation on my behalf or by joining my team, you will be helping the Association provide community-based education programs, protect the rights of people with diabetes and fund critical research for a cure. |
