It is time of year again - I will be cycling in the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure fund-raising event in Lakewood Ranch on 7 April 2013. Once again, we'll be riding towards a cure and raising monies to fund essential research and support the ADA's goals of advocating for those with diabetes, supporting those that need assistance with medicine and treatments, funding summer camps so parents of diabetic children can let them go to cam without worry. I know that the American Diabetes Association raises awareness and supports many programs for people with diabetes. Each mile I ride, and each bit of the funds I raise will be used in the fight to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

The power of 5. When I was a kid a visit to the doctor was five dollars. Quite a few years later and that same five dollar bill won't cover breakfast let alone a Doctor's visit. Still, a single five dollar bill has the power to heal, to help change lives. If each of you viewing this page were to donate just $5 to raise money for the American Diabetes Association, we could make a huge impact.

THAT is the power of 5 - the power of 10 would exceed my goals for the year. Thanks for your time and hopefully your donaiton as well.

The goal of $2600 - ?
While that may seem an odd number, I'm hoping to raise just one dollar for each thousand people in the United States that have diabetes. With the current number of Americans with diabetes being over 26,000,000, I'm just asking for a fraction of a penny for each of those with this disease.
