It is hard to believe that another year is coming to an end. As we start the new year, we all make resolutions, mine is to keep working to stay healthly and to keep my diabetes under control. I can't believe that is has been almost seven years since I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. Words can't describe how shaken I was with the diagnosis. I really thought my world was falling apart, but with the help of some great educators and my family, I have learned that I can live a full and healthy life with diabetes.

As a result of my diagnosis, my husband Lee and I started riding bicycles once again. I never thought it would be such a big part of my life.

For the past 5 years , I have ridden in the Tour de Cure. This year I will be cycling in the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure fund-raising event once again. This year I am excited to once again be riding the 52 mile course. I am so proud of my husband Lee, this is the second year that he is chairing the route committee, and we are looking for another stellar ride.

We each know and love someone who has been diagnoses with Diabetes or is pre-diabetic. If we don't do something soon to end this horrible disease one out of every three children born today will develop diabetes. I ride for them as well as for me.
