Why Do I Ride in 2013? After recovering from my hip replacement, I'm ready to ride in 2013. I celebrated 40 years of living with diabetes in 2012. In 1972, I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. My dad was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes one week later. I've been fortunate to have seen many advances in the care for people living with the disease referred to as the "silent killer". All of the research and new technology have helped me in controlling my blood sugar and living with this disease for the last 40 years. Other than taking insulin, checking my blood sugar and watching my diet each day, my life has been as normal as yours. Thankfully, complications with diabetes have not occured in me like they did in my dad who died in 1996. This is why I support the Tour de Cure and give to the American Diabetes Association each year. Support Me in Tour de Cure! I will be cycling in the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure fundraising event. Please support me with a donation by selecting the "Sponsor Me" button. Our efforts will help set the pace in the fight against diabetes. So let's get in gear and ride to Stop Diabetes! Help Make a Difference in the fight against diabetes! Each mile I ride, and the funds I raise will be used in the fight to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. |
