I was 10 years old when I was first diagnosed with Diabetes. I spent Easter that year in the hospital in Princeton, NJ. I recall on Easter Sunday a Girl Scout Troup came in to deliver some chocolates to the children in the hospital that day. I remember seeing the little girl tremble as she walked towards me to hand me the candy that she had no idea that I was not going to be able to eat as I had just been told the day before that I had a disease called Diabetes.
I am riding in the South Florida Tour de Cure to help raise Money for Diabetes research in the hopes that some day no other child has to go through a similar experience.
With your help, we will fight for a future where a parent does not have to hear that their child has diabetes. A future where an adult does not have to face the uncertain times ahead after receiving a diabetes diagnosis. A future where you and I will know that we had a part in making this possible.
