Why?

This year is the ten year anniversary of the Tour De Cure in Redmond which is also my eighth year supporting this event and fifth year as the captain for team Gold's, an amazing team.  Why do I support this event and not any of the countless other fund raisers?  My grandmother had type 2 diabetes and passed away 25 years ago due to complications from it... and way too young.  Diabetes runs in my family and despite my healthy live style I tested in the pre-diabetes range.  I have a newborn son and a three year old daughter and I don't want them to be affected by this disease.  I ride for my children and anyone else's children so they can grow up armed with knowledge and available medicine so that future generations will only know about this disease from history books.
