2012 Tour de Cure - Patricia's page

Hello again my wonderful friends of Diabetes!!
It's that time of year again when we hit the road with our bicycles to raise money and awareness for Diabetes. And we have a big team fundraising goal this year because another big team pulled out of our ride.
Tour de Cure is still here and so is our Diabetes family. We are an amazing little team that has stuck with this challenge to help cure and support people with Diabetes Type I and II. This year we have a new Captain!! Stephanie!! Yay! We are so happy to have Stephanie leading our team and she is doing an amazing job. So far we have 25 riders on our team. That is the most ever in our 7 years. So already that's a big win for Stephanie! Please help me make this our team's best year ever. Do it for Stephanie!
And this year I have committed to riding the 100 miles!! Oh my, this is a very big challenge for me. But I felt that I needed to push myself because that is what Stephanie has to do every day, every hour--push herself to take excellent care of her blood. She does not get a day off or an hour off. So I thought I should really do something challenging.
And I'm challenging you to push this year too. Please help me reach my goal. Maybe you could forward this to your friends and family with a personal note asking if they know someone or maybe they have Diabetes and they would like to support our team by making a donation. There are so amny of your friends and family living with diabetes and you may not even know it. You never know who's day you are going to make with a small gesture like letting them know you help support a friend with Diabetes.
As you know, my daughter, Stephanie, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in September, 1994, when she was 11. Stephanie was in the hospital for a week where we learned how to take care of her. The past 19 years with Diabetes has been nothing less than challenging.
Help me help 24 million!!
The ride is on Sunday, May 5, 2013, and we ride through the Napa Valley, with distances of 10, 25, 50, 80 or 100 miles.
We hope to add many friends and family to our team this year--actually twice as many as last year. This disease is not going anywhere, so why should we?
Thank you for your generous contribution to this cause that is so near to my heart!
Help Make a Difference!
Pedal power works! Each mile I ride, each dollar I raise will be used in the fight to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
