For the past seven years I have been participating in the Tour de Cure, a fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association. I chose this event because of all the people who suffer from diabetes who I meet through my work at Guide Dogs for the Blind. Many of them have lost their vision and some much more. Almost 21 million people in the United States have diabetes and over six million of those are undiagnosed. Diabetes is the number one cause of acquired blindness.
