I am once again riding in the Tour de Cure.  This cause has become very near and dear to me.  My mother has diabetes and has been battling it for quite some time now.  She has now become insulin dependent and has to inject herself daily now in order to survive.

I rode in the 2010, 2011 and 2012 Tour de Cures.  I started out barely able to ride 5 miles without hurting and barely being able to walk after.  I rode 50 miles that day in 2010 and felt wonderful after.  I felt so good I was running around the party afterwards in a sundress with people amazed that I had actually rode!  In 2011 I was injured in a car versus bike accident (me being the bike).  I was afraid I wouldn't even be able to ride at all, but I managed the 25 mile ride.  This year (2012) I am was out for the 100 mile ride and that was cut short when my husband took a fall and ended up in the ER via ambulance.  After spending a week in the hospital, he went home determined to ride again.  Not only are we riding again, but we WILL make that centrury!!

I also was scared I would not be able to raise the required $200.  Not only did I raise that in the first couple weeks, I ended up a Champion for Diabetes by raising over $1000 both years!
