Thank you for your intererst in the Spokane Tour de Cure.
Recently the Association launched a new Strategic Plan and is embarking on significant changes to increase our ability to drive discovery, raise voice and support more people affected by diabetes both nationally and locally in our area.
The Association is taking necessary steps to ensure our ability to better deliver on our mission, and to successfully institute our new Strategic Plan. This includes not only continuing to fund programs like Safe at School, and research programs, but also to invest more resources to drive these initiatives and to explore more ways we can serve our community directly.
Changes in Spokane
As a result of the new direction and focus there are some changes happening in Spokane. After looking at all the data, it was decided that the focus would be on larger events. As a result, we are no longer moving forward with the Spokane Tour de Cure at this time. I want to say thank you to all the volunteers and riders who took part in the event over the years! You have directly impacted many people living with diabetes, and, with fresh focus of the Association, more people will be reached.
You can still be a part of the Tour de Cure! One of the newly expanded events is the Tour de Cure in Seattle. This event will be held on May 21st and is great for the whole family as it includes a new walk route in addition to cycling. You can also join us in Hillsboro, Oregon for the Oregon/SW Washington Tour de Cure on July 29th, which is also a cycle and walk event. Your current fundraising efforts would be transferred to these events.
There are also virtual ride options at either the Seattle or Portland Tours, if your calendar doesn't allow you to be in attendance and many more ways to continue to support people living with diabetes.
If you are already registered we will be reaching out to you personally to talk about the event and all the options for you.
Exciting Programs Remain in Spokane
We are excited that we will continue to support and expand the programs in Spokane. To name a few:
We are not leaving Spokane, just changing our focus to better serve people affected by the disease. Your dedication and efforts to support those affected by diabetes is more important than ever, we appreciate your efforts and we thank you for your contributions to the mission.
