The safety and health of people living with diabetes, their families, our supporters and volunteers are our No. 1 priority. With that in mind, we have decided to host our Tour de Cure® event VIRTUALLY.
Since the onset of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic in early 2020, the American Diabetes Association® has followed the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO) and other health authorities. It is with the greatest caution and the priority of the health and safety of our volunteers, advocates, employees, partners and friends that we have decided to host our 2021 events virtually.
We also have merged the Tour de Cure: North Shore, Tour de Cure: Kennebunks, Tour de Cure: New England Classic and Tour de Cure: Ocean State into one event—now the virtual Tour de Cure: New England. Bringing cyclists together from around New England is nothing new. For years we have had riders, volunteers, sponsors and staff involved in multiple Tour de Cure events in our region. The merger of events allows us to now truly unite our efforts.
All cycling teams and participants can register now for the Tour de Cure: New England and participate virtually at home or in your local area on Sunday, August 22.
If you are a past walker or runner, we are excited to invite you to participate in our National Virtual Step Out event. Our local staff will be in touch with you soon to share more about this new virtual journey that will both inspire and motivate!
