My third Tour de Cure Ride
OK, now that it's my 3rd year doing the Tour de Cure I feel like I am part of the regular crowd. I now know several of the riders that have - like me - come back again and some have done this many years in a row. Like them it is hard for me to escape the draw of this special event.
There is of course the bike ride itself and as most of you know being on my bike is total relaxation and total fun for me. But then on top of that the Tour de Cure has fellow cyclists that share the fun of riding a bicycle but also share the spirit to help an awsome organization to support a great cause. Every year I admire the red riders - i.e. my fellow cyclists that have diabetes themselves. They are the real heros in this: yes, this ride is a bit of a challenge - but for them it also means they have to make sure their blood sugar is well controlled throughout the ride. I imagine not an easy task during the ride but also in general not an easy task in their daily lives - every day, ever hour...
I so very much look forward to coming back to this ride and seeing some of the same people and their smiles and feeling immediately the camaraderie from being on the same team and for the same cause.
So, yes: I will without doubt ride this year again and am asking thus again for your generous support in my efforts to raise awareness and funds in the battle against diabetes.
