Welcome to Mark Feit's page
In 2010, I started losing weight without lifting a finger. As a lifelong fat kid, that. was. awesome. But then I started bring thirsty all the time. Peeing every hour all night long. And I lost 22 pounds. My mother finally convinced me to go to the doctor. With a BG reading of 344 came the diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes. And a complete life change.
I started excercising. Walking the dogs, and riding my bike. A 10 year old mountain bike. Back then, 12 miles was hard. As my struggle continued, so did the riding. 20 miles, then 25. Then a new bike and my first Tour de Cure in 2015, in Ashland. I rode 30 miles, my longest ride ever (at that time.) And I found a cause I could lbelieve in, because it was intensely personal. I struggle with T2D every day. And here was a group of people that knew exactly what that was like. Planning for every ride, eating the right things, bringing food along. My second Tour I rode 50 miles. My third, a metric century (with a new new road bike) and this year, I'm riding 75 miles. Again, my longest ride to date.
My wife Bailey has ridden with me each year. She deals with the hangries and all the other things that go along with this disease, and I am grateful to have her by my side. In total, I've lost 50 pounds from my fattest, and am the healthiest I've ever been. I'm thankful for that, but don't want one more person to have to go through this. We are Team Feit for a Cure. Please help us Feit :) for one too and join us, or donate. Any amount truly helps.
