I'm Donating My Birthday to the American Diabetes Association
It started with just one decision and one intention. I decided to make a difference in my life and the lives of others. I sought out and found a job more than a year and a half ago at the American Diabetes Association to further my support of the cause and work toward helping find a cure.
As you may know, my fiancé (soon to be hubby!) Brandon has lived with type 1 diabetes since he was three years old and is insulin-dependent; my dad had type 2 diabetes for many years and about six months ago he decided to kickstart a healthy new lifestyle complete with good eating habits and a fitness plan that has resulted in him losing nearly 50 pounds and coming completely off of his diabetes medication. YAY! What an amazing feat! I am so proud of my dad (and I can't wait to see him when he walks me down the aisle at my wedding).
I know firsthand that the cost of living with diabetes is astronomical compared to an individual without. I see this on a daily basis and it’s important to me to continue working toward finding a cure through my career as well as by participating in the annual DC-area events such as the Tour de Cure + Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes, which I enjoy. It’s so great to see the community come together and rally around all those affected by the disease. So, I am asking for your support again this year.
Of course it’s a busy time right now! Between the wedding and honeymoon with my birthday squeezed in there, a lot is going on. I’ll miss being in person at this year’s annual DC Tour de Cure + Step Out to Stop Diabetes event on September 23rd since my wedding is that weekend in Georgia, but I plan to fundraise and participate virtually. I'm donating my birthday to the American Diabetes Association. Give the gift of a donation, and help me reach my goal.
You can donate directly online here or by shopping my Stella & Dot Online Style Session at www.stelladot.com/ts/l1rf3. Surely you need to do some shopping for the holidays and would love to knock that out while supporting a fundraiser. I will donate 15% of my jewelry and accessories sales to the cause. If you would like some shopping assistance, I’d be happy to help. Just send me a message.
I also invite you to join my team and bring your friends and family to the event. There will be plenty of colleagues and friends there to welcome you with open arms. Please take pictures and share them with me!
Thanks for helping me celebrate life and so many wonderful milestones. With support like yours, you are helping create a beacon of hope for the more than 30 million Americans living with diabetes.
