Welcome to my Personal Page
We walked in the American Diabetes Association's ("ADA") Tour de Cure in 2017. We will be walking again in 2018 and plan to walk every year going forward. The Tour de Cure raises funds annually for the ADA, which does so much for those living with type 1 diabetes, and who is also working diligently to find a cure for this disease. We have a big fund raising goal for the 2018 Tour de Cure and hope you can help us reach our goal. Finding a cure for Type 1 diabetes is a big deal for us as this disease not only impacts millions in the US, it also impacts our daughter, Kelsey. Type 1 diabetes affects the lives of those living with it every minute of every day of every year for the rest of their lives.
I didn't know much about the Tour de Cure, the ADA, or type 1 diabetes for that matter, until just over ten years ago. You see, it was then that Kelsey was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Kelsey had just graduated from high school, was a busy, active, healthy, physically fit young lady who was getting ready to go off to her first year of college. What a shock it was for Kelsey, and for us, who had never experienced type 1 diabetes, to be told that her life needed to change to manage this disease.
We have learned so much about the management of type 1 diabetes over the past ten years (and still are thanks to Kelsey), but perhaps the bigggest thing we have learned is how tough Kelsey has to be every single day. Diabetics NEVER get a break. They deal with being a diabetic and its management, nearly every minute of every day. The physical and mental toughness Kelsey displays amazes us. She is an inspiration to us, but because she works with and helps other individuals with type 1 diabetes through her job and also her work with the ADA, she is also an inspiration to many others. Diabetes is tough, but Kelsey, and others with type 1 diabetes, are tougher.
I am asking you to support us in the 2018 Tour de Cure, because finding a cure for diabetes, and supporting the ADA's programs to help those living with type 1 diabetes, is so meaningful to millions of people in the US. Help us make a difference with your donation to our Tour De Cure fund raising page and THANK YOU in advance for your generous, tax deductible donation!!!
