Well hello. Welcome to my fundraising page!
Thanks so much for taking a moment to learn about the Tour de Cure and hear why this is important to me! For the past two years the Tour has been a moment for me and Ben to come together with our personal community and the diabetes community to demonstrate the power of collective effort. It’s been so meaningful to learn about the education, advocacy and research the American Diabetes Association supports throughout the year.
In 2018, we did our first Tour de Cure ride together. It was the first time Ben rode 25+ miles. Just this past January, we did a 3-day bike trip in New Zealand. The ride has really inspired us to be more active and lead a healthier lifestyle together. And thanks to you, we became Champions in our first Tour de Cure, each raising over $1000.
Our team expanded in 2019 with the addition of our parents. They flew from Boston and Cleveland and we got to host them in the area where Ben and I have made our home together. It was the first time we all got to spend time together. It was also the first year Gayle volunteered for the planning committee. Again, we hit Champion status with your support!
This year, the efforts of the ADA are more critical than ever. Here are the top 3 reasons I am contributing this year:
1) Our health care system is under attack in the Supreme Court with affordable insulin and access to healthcare technology even more uncertain.
2) Communities of color are disproportionally affected by diabetes.
3) Individuals with diabetes are more likely to experience complications or die from COVID-19.
Thank you for supporting our family and the greater diabetes community.
With love and gratitude,
