Support Me in the Tour de Cure!
Hello Everyone! My name is Kaileigh Moore, and this will be my 17 th year riding in the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure, and I would love your support! This year I will once again be riding to raise funds for diabetes research.
On September 17 th, 2003, I was diagnosed with type one diabetes. After a whirlwind of doctors appointments, new medications, learning more about food than I had ever planned, and convincing my 13 year old classmates that I was neither contagious nor on the brink of death, I slowly began to acclimate myself to life with diabetes. I decided that this disease would not be a limiting factor in my life, and that I would fight to raise awareness and find a cure. My goal is stop diabetes, and never let diabetes stop me.
I have completed 2 Timberman 70.3 's in New Hampshire and my 1st FULL Ironman - July 2015 in Lake Placid. In Sept 2017 I completed the 1st ever Lake Placid 70.3 ! I am also an Adirondack 46'er along with my dog Kaya !
Diabetes has had a huge effect on my life. Besides wavering and unpredictable blood sugar that can leave me feeling drained for hours or temporarily sidelined from athletics, it has brought me into the world of the Tour de Cure, where I have met some of the most amazing people who have become like family to me. The day of the Tour is my most favorite day of the entire year... the atmosphere, riders, volunteers, and overwhelming support make it unforgettable and unbelievable. Each year I find myself counting down the days until Tour, and once its here I can't wipe the smile from my face!
Along with myself, my grandfather, my uncle, and over 30 million other Americans suffering from diabetes, with your help, someday we can say that we "used to have diabetes". Thank You!!!
