Please Support Me in the Fight Against Diabetes
I am riding once again in the Tour de Cure on Sunday May 3rd. It is almost 5 years since my daughter Erin woke up after 3-days in a coma from a severe diabetic ketoacidosis incident. I will never forget those days and the weeks that followed - racing to St. Charles Hospital in Bend Oregon where she had been air-lifted, Learning that her blood sugar and acid levels were beyond anything the doctors had ever seen or knew of anyone surviving, the doctors telling us they would do what they could but don't expect her to survive, the hospital chaplin praying with us the next morning when her heart was failing, racing to OHSU in Portland that same day chasing her second life flight in two days while texting with the flight crew, meeting the team of doctors at OHSU who requested permission to install a heart catheter and said they would try everything (including a heart lung transplant) to save her, learning she had suffered a stroke due to the low blood pressure, remembering the joy when she woke up three days after going down, the two weeks at OHSU and another week at a rehab hospital re-learning to walk and talk. As long as I am physically able, I HAVE TO RIDE. I have to do whatever I can to spare other families from enduring anything like this or worse.
The ride is Sonoma Valley this year, the second one avter moving from Napa Valley. I will be riding 30-miles in this fund-raising event, I've been riding in this event every year since Erin was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2004. Please Help me make a cure possible.
Help Mak a Diffrence!
Each dollar I raise will be used in the fight to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of millions Americans who suffer from diabetes. I will do everything I can to help put an end to this horrible disease.
No matter how small or large, your generous gift will help those affected by diabetes, and hopefully help find a cure so that future generations can live in a world without this disease. Together, we can all make a difference!
