Welcome to My Tour de Cure Web Page!
AMERICAN DIABETES TOUR DE CURE 2017
Saturday, June 3rd
Hello there! I hope this letter finds you, and yours, happy, healthy and ready for the start of (shudder) summer next month. Personally, I am ready for the start of Fall! I say, let’s not “Bring back those lazy (muggy),hazy (buggy), crazy (humid) days of summer!” l say, let’s just skip right over summer and plow, head first, into (a pile of) Autumn (leaves)! In the words of Jerry McGuire, “Show me the pumpkins!” Hopefully everyone saw that movie. Otherwise, that last part will make NO sense! But seriously, let’s try to work out that skipping summer thing, ok?
Sooo, let’s see…what else? Oh yeah! St. Louis Island isn’t so much of an island any more. That’s good! I hope you all weathered the storms and flooding ok. Allan was just getting ready to install the turbo powered motor on our Ark, when the waters finally started to recede. And just in the nick of time too! I was not looking forward to the bill from Purina. Have you seen the price of Hippo Chow lately!? I mean, I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas and all, but two? That would just be kind of silly!
So, anyway we had to sell a few things on Craig’s Book to make room in the basement to store the ark, tho hopefully, we won’t have a need for it ever again. I was on Face Chat the other day and was surprised at how many other people were facing the same dilemma, keep their Arks or try to sell them. There were all kinds of ads, with outrageous prices, and pictures of them, posted by a bunch of twits on Ginger Snap. So clearly, some people were hoping to re-coup their building costs, and then some, by overcharging! So be careful. You have to be really savvy when using Social Medium. Trust me. I know!
And, just to be clear, no, I have not been drinking.
In other news…..it’s that time of year again! That time of year when I say, “OMG! It’s May 12th and I haven’t sent out the Tour De Cure letter yet!!” Yep! That’s right! I haven’t. And, yep! That’s right too! The Tour De Cure is less than a month away! So…. I guess I had better quit yammering and get down to business! Allan will once more be participating in the American Diabetes Tour De Cure Bike Ride as a member of Gus’s Gang. He has signed up to do the 100 mile ride again this year and I will give one Billion, yes I said “BILLION”, dollars, plus a coupon for a dozen chicken wings, (extra crispy, light on the sauce please), to anyone who can talk him into doing the 50 mile ride this year. I have tried, but alas, he is bent on doing the 100 miles, beating up his body, wearing it out, using it up, and then using that as an excuse for not taking up Country Line Dancing in our retirement years. Therefore, I’m guessing my money is safe, and…… I guess I’ll just have to eat those wings myself.....:( ..... :). Could I get ranch dressing with those, please?
But seriously, and unfortunately, cases of Diabetes, as in years past, are on the rise. Although treatments for Diabetes have been vastly improved over time, the goal is to find a cure, so that treatments will no longer be necessary. If you would like to help find that cure, and help Allan get out of those dance lessons, please consider sponsoring him again in this year’s ride. As always, your donations are greatly appreciated! Of course there are many great causes out there for us to support. However, I think we would all be hard pressed to find anyone who has not been touched, in some way, by Diabetes. If you would like to donate you may do so either by going online at tour.diabetes.org or, by sending a check, made out to “The American Diabetes Association”, to Allan, at 461 Alverston Ct, Ballwin, Mo. 63021.
And remember, “A person may not always remember what you did, but they will always remember how you made them feel”. That is so true. And, believe me, Allan really…… does not feel like line dancing. That’s all I got! Except that, as always, thank you, so much, for your support!
