Welcome to the Wilsons' New England Classic Web Page!
We're STILL on the road to STOP diabetes!
The COVID-19 pandemic has made 2020 a year like no other.
Two things it has not changed is the epidemic of diabetes and our determination to end it. In fact, the coronavirus has highlighted the horrible risk from this type of virus for people living with diabetes along with the other complications they face.
Our family has supported the mission of the American Diabetes Association for more than 25 years through the New England Classic Tour de Cure. In that time, with the help of family, friends, neighbors and colleagues we have raised tens of thousands of dollars to fuel the ADA mission.
First as riders and volunteers, and for the past five years with Tim on the ADA staff, we have pedaled more than 500 miles by bike around New England every July to raise funds and awareness of diabetes. This year, due to COVID-19, our New England tour will be a virtual event but the need to support the more than 34 million Americans living with diabetes is more real than ever.
Beyond the impact on health, the coronavirs is taking a toll on people financially. We recognize this limits the ability of many to make a contribution. But raising awareness of diabetes right now has a value equal to fundraising. The registration fee to join a Tour has been eliminated and so have fundraising minimums. So we are asking you to ask everyone in your network join us in registering for the New England Classic and ask them to do the same. Expanding our network of support helps make every little bit go a long way.
You can be a part of the 2020 New England Classic without pedaling a mile. But the more you get up and move whatever way you choose, the more success you'll have in your personal battle with diabetes risk.
Please support our efforts for the ADA with a contribution in any amount you can and help spread the word about diabetes.
Tim and Marlene Wilson
