Tour de Cure Ten
Tour de Cure 2018 - our 11th year riding in support of the American Diabetes Association.
I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 14. 34 years later, I still survive. Managing minute by minute the balance of insulin, carb intake, exercise, and 100s of other known and unknown variables that are part of the equation that my pancreas is supposed to solve.
The ADA organization has been a great support to me and my family. Especially for Tegan, diagnosed 11 years ago while in first grade, at seven years old. The ADA and their Safe at School program has helped provide her teachers the knowledge and skills necessary for dealing with diabetes. This diabetes education has given Tegan the support she needed to be safe and excel in her public schoool education. She has grown into a beautiful and powerful young woman, using her talents and skills in helping so many around her. She recently went to the capitol building in Salem to visit with legislators and speak about the need to fund more diabetes research as well as talking about the high cost of insulin and the need for laws regarding pricing in the pharmaceutical industry.
And once again, I ask you to take a close look at your budget and consider what portion of your charitiable giving can be given to the ADA.
Every dollar matters to Team Tegan and Her Daddy.
