Welcome to My Tour de Cure Web Page!
Support Me and the fight to Stop Diabetes
For the eigth year in a row, I will be participating in the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure fundraising event. This event combines two big parts of my life: diabetes and cycling. I have been a lifelong rider and after riding in the first Tour de Cure in Hillsboro I got involved in organizing the event itself. This is now the best group ride in the Portland area featuring a fantastic course in the Washington County countryside, great food, and entertainment for the whole family at the finish line party. Although I will be working at the finish line and won't be riding this year, seeing everyone coming together to fight for people like me living with diabetes is incredibly satisfying!
We all know someone...
Diabetes used to be a disease that affected young kids and old people. Now, one in eleven Americans have it and the number is growing even more quickly. We all know someone who has it. The funds I raise will be used in the fight to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by it. In Oregon, the ADA funds were used for some programs that may not normally come to mind such as providing education to teachers and school administrators so they can better support their students who have diabetes.
Whether you donate $5 or some huge amount, your gift will help improve the lives of everyone who has this disease...and those who have it in their future. You can make a difference!
Thank you for giving...
