Welcome to my Tour de Cure page!
The year 2020 will go down as the most trying times in generations. It will be forever known for the COVID-19 Pandemic and the many loved ones that have suffered and we lost. Many at-risk groups suffer complications and even death to COVID-19. One group are Diabetics!!!
This year, I lost two beloved people in my life who were Diabetic. Recently my mother, Audreyann Lurenz passed away (December 8, 2020) due to complications from COVID-19. She lived with Type II Diabetes for decades. The other was my mother-in-law, Sue Petersen who was also a Type II Diabetic and passed away in February of 2020 from Kidney failure due to complications of Diabetes.
In lieu of flowers for my Mother's funeral service on December 16, 2020, the family is asking for donations to 2021 Tour de Cure which I will be riding in memory of Mom and the many family & friends with Diabetes. I am asking for your donations to the American Diabetes Association thru my Tour de Cure® fundraising portal.
I am also thriving with Type II Diabetes since January 2000 . This year Tour de Cure celebrates 30 years of making an impact in communities nationwide and I’m riding to champion the over 34 million Americans living with this terrible disease because they need our support. I have been riding as a "Red Rider" for over 15 years and for the past 5 years, I have been team captain for Team Red Wisconsin, one of the American Diabetes Assoc. regional teams
Help Me Reach My Goal! When you donate you make an immediate impact:
- You spread awareness of the devastating effects of diabetes.
- You advocate for a child with diabetes to have the same learning opportunities at school.
- You fund life-saving research that will bring us closer to a cure.
- You provide access to community programs and free resources that help those living with diabetes.
By participating in the Tour de Cure, I hope to inspire others to join me in this vital mission.
Thank you for making a generous donation in the memory of my mother, Audreyann Lurenz, to this cause that is so important to us.
